Action Team participants document co-creation session in Amsterdam

In the co-creation session of April 23rd in Nieuw-West, Amsterdam, the Lumion Action Team, in collaboration with YoPA Amsterdam, showcased the power of participatory communication.

During the session, participant of the Lumion Action Team took charge of session documentation, emphasyzing their ownership and decision-making in representing the co-creation process. Instead of merely participating, they creatively documented the insightful work of the day through captivating images. From selecting relevant moments to choosing the perfect photographic angle, the Action Team members demonstrated their active involvement in every aspect of the process.

This initiative highlights the essence of co-creation in the YoPA project, empowering adolescents to shape their own narratives and take ownership of their experiences.

Phase two of Co-creation process is advancing in Aalborg, Denmark

Starting on April 17th, the Action Teams in Aalborg, Denmark, had their first creative session to develop the community intervention ideas.

This is part of phase 2 of the co-creation process with the adolescents, which will continue for the next sessions.

In this phase, they will work on building the first models for the intervention, discuss strategies, collaborate with the local staff and researchers and start planning the execution of the ideas.

The adolescents are engaged in the process and have demonstrated enthusiasm and focus during the activity.

YoPA monthly Scientific Partner Meetings topics (April)

In the YoPA Scientific Partners Meeting on April 4th, consortium partners welcomed Dr. Michiel Luijten from Amsterdam UMC as a guest speaker. Dr. Luijten delivered an insightful presentation on the topic “Advantages and disadvantages of questionnaires based on classical test theory and item response theory,” aiming to inform the consortium’s decision-making on instruments for the project’s data collection.

Following the presentation, senior researchers engaged in detailed discussions regarding the selection of measurements for local sites. Action points were established for the upcoming month to ensure alignment and adaptability of instruments across all participating countries.

YoPA monthly Scientific Partners Meeting topics (March)

In the YoPA Scientific Partners Meeting on March 7th, consortium partners delved into discussions surrounding Systems Mapping, Causal Loops Diagrams, and the utilization of accelerometers for tracking youth movement behaviors.

Led by YoPA’s Principal Investigator, Prof. Dr. Mai Chin A Paw, the first part of the meeting challenged participants to engage in a brief systems mapping exercise, exploring the interconnections within a specific context.

Following this, Prof. Dr. Jasper Schipperijn presented on the application of accelerometers and GPS for monitoring adolescent movement behaviours in urban environments, sparking a dialogue on how consortium partners could integrate such data collection methods into their respective contexts.

The meeting concluded with members of the Dissemination Committee addressing YoPA’s forthcoming policy briefs, outlining content priorities, and delineating partner responsibilities for the briefs writing.

YoPA’s study protocol was published in the British Medical Journal Open Access on February 21st.

Everyone is happily invited to read the paper and learn how YoPA’s teen-centered participatory approach will lead to tailored interventions addressing adolescents’ movement behaviors across Denmark, the Netherlands, Nigeria, and South Africa.
